Dogs For People
Proprieter Information
Dogs have always played a very big part in my life. My earliest memories from the tender age of four was having a Great Dane called Emma and a Greyhound called Skippy. My mother and father were keen greyhound trainers and at one time I can remember twenty of them in our kennels. Though I was very interested in this breed, their working life span was to me very short and it always seemed that my parents were relentlessly trying to find good homes for the retired greyhounds but as was usually the case keeping themselves , hence 20.

I first became interested in shooting at 16. My father bought me a yellow Labrador puppy (show bred) for my 21st birthday to enhance my shooting enjoyment which Bramble certainly did. I tried twice to breed from Bramble but was unsuccessful so I approached Stan Harvey with view buy a puppy with Field Trial breeding, her name Sporting Capercaillie. With this dog I caught the Field Trial bug , nearly as addictive as cigarettes! Kayley won over 20 working tests and 12 field trial awards. She gave me 11 years of fun, and friendship. Then came Diamond , who certainly lived up to her name as she became my first field trial champion in 1995, and also that year finished 4th in the Retriever Championships receiving a Diploma of Merit. Sadly Diamond died in 2003 at the age of 13.

So this is a brief history of my life with dogs to date. Currently I have 4 dogs in my kennel 1 yellow lab and 3 black labs. Until recently I regularly competed in Field trials during the shooting season. Although my work commitments have reduced my trialing activities I do still manage a good few days shooting and judging each season as I am on the Kennel Club A panel of retriever judges.

Though I very rarely have to advertise my dogs as enquiries often come me, I thought that I could give people an alternative way of selling their dogs other than the more traditional but expensive ways such as weekly and monthly shooting magazines. I intend to use Dogs for People as a medium where dog sellers and buyers can advertise for free and be put in touch with each other, with mutual benefit.
